777 Animations [P3D]

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently purchased the 777 for P3D. This is my first PMDG aircraft.

I've noticed that the external animations are very jumpy and not smooth as I believe they should be. Here's a video showing what I'm seeing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbRVggRV1LQ. Notice the gear extend/retract and speedbrake animations. It's almost as if they are playing back at a much lower framerate than the rest of the sim. Additionally the engine fan animation is noticeably not smooth.

As you can see, my framerate is good, remaining at 40fps or above externally. I'm not pushing crazy graphics settings and sliders are mostly set to around the middle. Animations on other aircraft such as the Aerosoft A319/A320 series are perfectly smooth so it feels that there may be some configuration issue with the 777 and my machine?

I've seen the issue in PREPAR3D v2.4 and in a freshly installed 2.5. (Each time I upgrade the sim I reinstall the entire OS from a disk image to ensure that nothing is left over from previous simulator installs..). I've tried with the latest Nvidia driver, and with 344.65 which I have been using for many many months as it gives me noticeably less/no microstutters.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any Ideas?

My system spec is in my profile, but I'll list it here  for completeness:

Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC
Intel Core i7 4770K (@4.4GHz)
16GB Corsair 1866Mhz Memory
Geforce GTX770OC 2GB
Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
1x 256GB Samsung Evo SSD (Windows 7 + PREPAR3D).
1x 256GB Samsung 840 SSD (Windows 8 + All non-PREPAR3D software).

Many thanks,

Seems normal enough, anyone else help me out here, the external model is not designed for super smooth animation.  It doesn't look as if the model is stuttering or anything, but the gear looks pretty ok.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
