June 7, 200520 yr I rarely fly in France because there is a lack of add on scenery. I have just flown over northern Brittany and Normandy and find the coast is missing in my scenery. It is just present as square sections. I cannot think of any reason for this. Everywhere else including the rest of the French coast is fine. Is it possible to get the default coast scenery tiles for this area and reinsert them into FS9. Where do I find them on my FS9 installation disks. Many thanksChris
June 7, 200520 yr Installing VFR Terrain for the UK does that. If you have that, see their support section for info on how to restore the coast. -
June 7, 200520 yr Commercial Member Howdy,"I rarely fly in France because there is a lack of add on scenery."I think that's a pretty common misconception when, in fact, France is probably one of most active countries with respect to FS add-on development. It's the language barrier (I assume) that prevents many add-ons to show up at the English-language sites. Here's a great overview of what is available at Avsim, flightsim, etc.: http://fly-heather.avsim.net/europe_France.htmlBut much, much more is available on sites such as http://www.francesim.com/ (partially restricted access), http://perso.wanadoo.fr/p.dumat/ , http://perso.wanadoo.fr/bravomike/altiports2004.html , and othersHappy add-on hunting!Cheers, Holger
June 7, 200520 yr holger, you took the words out of my mouth :-) when i'm bored with the simulator and want to do some "real" flying, i go buzz hoedichttp://www.francevfr.com/some amazing stuff therevilk
June 7, 200520 yr If you are going to use France VFR scenery and the VisualFlight mesh, however, be advised that the replacement European coastlines from their patch do NOT work with the Brittany Islands sceneries or Quiberon. You end up with multiple islands overlaid and all over the place.I ended up uninstalling the mesh. :-(Ian P.
June 7, 200520 yr AlanYou posted this problem on the VFR Terrain Support forum on 30 May and I immediately replied asking for more information. As you've only just responded to my request I'm a little disappointed to find you jumping to conclusions here before the issue has been fully investigated.I posted a detailed follow up on the Visual Flight forums earlier this evening, and hopefully this will help clarify the situation. I look forward to your feedback. I very much doubt that uninstalling VFR Terrain is a necessary step to resolve the problem.Just to clarify, for those who aren't already familiar with VFR Terrain: you refer to it as a 'mesh', but in fact it is a complete terrain scenery product incorporating highly accurate and detailed coastline, lake shorelines and lake elevations in addition to the 19m mesh. The relevance of this to the discussion is obviously that if it was just a mesh, there would be no possibility of any coastline problems in the first place.I should also clarify that the replacement coastlines for France etc. are not 'our patch', but a third party scenery very generously contributed by Nigel Glossop, to whom we're indebted.JohnVisual Flighthttp://www.visualflight.nethttp://www.visualflight.net/london/images/signature.jpg
