June 10, 200520 yr Hey Folks, I don't know if anyone has noticed this.. But I have just recently purchased Reality Xp Guages Garmin 530Well I have noticed that when I fire up an aircraft and have it setting on the runway.I pause and alt-tab to the desktop and bring up performance and settings and the cpu is running at 100%.Not this is with the gauge settings on High or Medium configured for the aircraft..Well when I load up an aircraft with out the guage installed it is just pretty much idle..And my page file settings didn't start getting effected till I installed the guage... My machine at this time is A Amd Athlon 64 bit 3200+ with a Gig of Kingston 400mhz ram, and a Nvidia Geforce 256mb 5500FX.Dunno whats going on there..I don't have the fastest system in the world.. But dang could them gauges really be requiring that much system processor? Sincerly,
June 10, 200520 yr I've always run at 100% CPU load with FS9 running. With or without add-ons makes no difference. That's still the case when I recently upgraded to an Athlon64 system.
June 10, 200520 yr Commercial Member I sometimes wonder just how reliable that CPU use figure actually is. I've seen 100 before with FS running (no particualr add-on being used) and I've even gone on to start Photoshop with no big issues......well maybe a bit slowed down. But I'd expect to see a total failure on trying to open a 50mb psd file with FS running and CPU use at 100%I guess the big issue is more like did FS seem to still run OK or not?http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg Cheers Paul Golding
June 10, 200520 yr Does it still show FS occupying 100% even after photoshop is started? I thinking perhaps the % is a reflection of the way the program is coded. FS9 probably takes up whatever amount of CPU resources happens to be available to it at a given time - if it's the only hungry app running it gets all of it, but if something else is running concurrently then the % gets split up...
June 10, 200520 yr I think that having a CPU assignment of 100% is good, as all available resources are being used for the application. I have just purchased the Garmin 430 ( I'm upgrading aircraft at my flight club for the commercial rating, and the new a/c has the 430 in it, so I've bought this specific model for training- used to flying with the KLN94). I'll try this at home tonight. But have you noted any frame-rate issues as a result of what you're seeing? Should be quite easy to swap aircraft (assuming you have some that the Garmin is not assigned to) and note the fps after it settles down. These products do launch a 16-bit Garmin emulator, I believe, which runs in the background- maybe you can see it in task manager. This may cause extraneous things with resource useage too.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
June 10, 200520 yr 100% CPU useage is the ideal in the FS world! that means FS is taking all resources available from your computer to run! You wouldn't want FS take only 50% and as a result halve your frame rate!As for the Garmin Trainer, don't temper with it! More information about how the new Reality XP offering manages it for you with GnsCore XP for the best performance is describded here:http://www.reality-xp.com/products/GNS/index.htmHope this helps!
June 10, 200520 yr What process is taking up all that percentage? Look in the processes tab and see which programs are taking up that much. Usually 100% means you have spyware or something interfering with the game. I don't think FS9 should be using 100% of your resources all the time.
June 10, 200520 yr "I don't think FS9 should be using 100% of your resources all the time."It should if the system is configured properly.Cheers,Greg
June 10, 200520 yr Sorry I would think that if your system was NOT configured properly you would be running at max resources
