virtual co pilot

Featured Replies

hi allis there any programs out there, besides fs2crew and FDC that cater for virtual co-pilot? It gets kind of lonely and very busy at landing / taking off doing everything yourself, there used to be a really good freeware addon from a European / Greek gentleman (i may be wrong) for fs98 / 2000 which gave basic flap callouts etc, however there hasnt been anu updates since.

ClaytonDoesn't the payware FSHotSeat do something similar to FS2Crew & FDC? Thought, from memory, it has a few features like these, but maybe I'm wrong?Cheers :)Josh

S-Combo, while no longer free, is reasonably priced. It gives you checklists, cabin announcements, flap/gear/altitude callouts along with GPWS. R-

Wow... You still remember it?Well... I miss it too, but unfortunately MS killed that kind of adventures with FS2004. If there was a new version it would have to be done as a seperate application via FSUIPC, something that I don't have the time to do at this period.George DorkofikisAthens, Greecehttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.pnghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpg

Hey guys, why don't you get yourself a real copilot (or a real pilot for the matter :-) )FSNet!! Go to this site http://www.gates.to/go.php and have a look at its caracteristics. Read the forums and get the documentation and program (~1 MB!!).Quite easy to implement.Since it came out last march, a friend and I have been flying online once or twice a week redoing the Aeropostal route (Toulouse/France, to Santiago/Chile. We did altought used a small jet and it still took us over 30 1 to 11/2 hour sessions to get through. One would fly as pilot while the other will care for the copilot tasks. Yea, we're actualy aboard the same craft that one and the other can operate and it reflects in the other's craft behavior. Naturaly both must share the same bird in their a/c bank.We are now experimenting the DC3 and plan to ride from Cairo to Victoria Lake along the Nil river.Basicaly we find a none busy FSHost site, with a good ping! (easy with FSHostSpy), meet there with the same a/c and enter FSNet (in the taskbar above). I think though, one could initiate an host session in FS and have his buddy(ies) to join 'em on its IP. Yes can can even have a rider to come along or even acting as a 3rd officer (I think) but haven't tried it yet. Then one proceeds to invite the other as an active pilot or as copilot and zap, in few seconds we're aboard the same bird (the one that invites the other)in our respective roles, that can be change along the way, if needed... well to go somewhere, sometimes. Well, you know!I could go on with this but I think the best way to learn about it is to go to the site mentionned above, read and try it. All it takes is a good temper and a little patience. I've got both of them and those that would imply the contrary, I'll crush'em right away ;-)Cheers, HugoEdit: Oh yea! We used to use Teamspeak2 to talk each other, but also use Skype which sounds somewhat better we found. It is also said that this prog works only with FS native bird but did not have problem using 3rd party's. When we start, I was still on a dialup setup and worked good as well despite the developer's opinion. But then we had to use Teamspeak as Skype wasen't at par with this setupH.

Hello George!yes i knew it was you ;-)yep i do miss it and i really enjoyed ur addon, thank you so much!i wish there was a version for Fs2004.

Hi Clayton. I agree with U. Sitting on the ramp and waiting for someone to come by is not my cup of tea either ;-) Been there too. Actualy for that kind of flight it is better to do it with someone U know and with whom you could agree to suitable times to meet for session. If you happen to have a buddy (or a few) that share the same interest about FS flying this souldn't be a big problem. If you don't, one of the way to find one is to do some online flying where you could find people that are doing the kind of flight you enjoy; ga, big iron, bush, fighter etc.Finding such places and such flying types isn't that much difficult nowadays, thanks to FSHostSpy. This little prog you will find in the library here (fshostspy11.zip), will search all 'on the air' FSHost sites all around the earth. With it you will easaly be able to identify those that are actualy active, that is where one or few people are actualy flying. Over that U will be able to see the kind of bird theyr'e flying, their current status, e.i. flying, on the ground etc.FSHost also gives the possibility to visit the site's web page hence learning a bit the philosophy of the people that participate to this specific site. So equipped it should be realativaly easy to join someone fast, no more sitting on the ramp and waiting :-), and eventualy find someone that would be interested to join you in a pilot/copilot session using FSNet.If you are interrested we could give it a try. I'm now retired and have quite some time available now. Contact me and give me a time that suits you. I'm from Quebec, EST. Mind you, I'm french speaking but can handle an 'acceptable' english conversation ;-) If you do, make shure you title your mail clearly, something like 'From Clayton to Hugo, FSnet' or something alike. I'm realy screening my mail. Also let me know your time zone.A headset is realy a must when flying online and even cheap ones, at $15, are ok. Flying and typing ain't compatible matters as far as I am concerned ;-)So, the ball is now yours!!Cheers, Hugo
