June 19, 200520 yr Hi guys,I am posting this question because after a search on the forum I couldnt find any answer to my problem. At the same time, I cant imagine this subject hasnt been discussed before, so by advance sorry if I missed something.I am experiencing those annoying fligkering ground and apron textures on many airports, would they be default or add-on, and both default AFCADs and add-on AFCADs.This happens usually when airborne, few feets above the ground or the runway, when the angle of vision isnt horizontally positionned. Is that only a driver issue (I'm using ATI gfx card), ot is there anyhting that can be fixed within FS.I havent applied the fs9.1 patch yet.I'd appreciate some help on the matter, because I could not find any solution by myself. Thanks by advance,
June 20, 200520 yr okay, go to your FS9.cfg and findTERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL= and change it to 21 and see if it helps
June 20, 200520 yr All right, thanks a lot Spooky,I will try this and report back in case it doesnt solve the pbm.I have had indeed modified the /terrain/ section of the fs9.cfg long time ago, for another reason, but not THATparticular entry, which is set by default at 19. I will test with 21.I will also then ask if anyone know how to avoid those huge squaresof undrawn textures when flying at high altitude above water.Regards,
June 20, 200520 yr I use an ATI 9800 pro and it suffers from heat exhaustion.when it gets hot it always gives me huge blocks of flickering textures. I bought an after market cooling fan and installed that on it, it lasts longer, but eventually gets hot and defaults to flickering. The only way I can run it at hi-res in full screen mode for any length of time is to take the side off my comp and place a house fan there to blow mountains of cool air on it !!!Steve
June 20, 200520 yr I sometimes get flashing / dancing - like textures generated from the runway or taxiway in panel view just after i have landed but it only happens at very few airports so don't know if it is a bug in the program. i have updated drivers but same thing happens at the same airport lol.
November 30, 200619 yr Hello,I tried raising TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL to 21, it did not go away at my "problem airport" RJAA, a fs2002 freeware ad-on adjusted with a fs9 afcad. I also have GE Pro.Please advise!Kind regards Mattias
November 30, 200619 yr Well that is probably because there are a ton of fs9 questions in this very forum./m
November 30, 200619 yr >Well that is probably because there are a ton of fs9>questions in this very forum.>>/m No, its because they are posted in the wrong forum. Look up to the top of the page, click on the main `Microsoft Flight Simulators` link, then select `The FS2004 (FS9) forum`. Different forum, different simulator version. We discuss only FSX here.Allcott
