March 31, 201511 yr I am flying the Project Airbus a380 at the moment - and it flies pretty nicely, with a smart VC panel and all.. The only thing (and this is mentioned in several threads) is that it seems a little underpowered, even given its size and weight. OK, when climbing above FL300 I expect to climb slowly to maintain speed, but even between 10,000 and 20,000, I cannot get the climb rate much above 1500ft/min without the autothrottle being unable to maintain my inputted IAS (around 290 KIAS above 10,000'). If I shut down the ATH and apply manual thrust, things are better. Overall though there's less climb power than I am used to with FS9 airbuses, (but maybe that's more like the real aircraft.). I don't want to increase the thrust_scalar value as taxiing on the ground is about right, I don't want the plane to race away. (I like the fact that it takes some time for the throttles to take effect on the ground, you get the feeling of a really heavy aircraft!). I have read through the AircraftContainerSDKFS2004.doc. I am not 100% sure if changing these values would help.. The numbers given are as I currently have them (PA default): [turbineenginedata]fuel_flow_gain = 0.00135inlet_area = 35.00rated_N2_rpm = 9750.00static_thrust = 80214.00 [autopilot]autothrottle_max_rpm = 90 I'm flying well within fuel and weight limits... I only need a small tweak I think - I am not expecting totally unrealistic performance! Thanks, Martin PS. Any smart payware a380s in the pipeline, does anyone know? Only interested in FS9, so probably not!! Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
March 31, 201511 yr Author This is relevant: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/tech_ops/read.main/28708/ Maybe the real-world a380 is just as sluggish as my FS9 version! Just a tiny tiny increase in the thrust_scalar might help (I don't want the plane stalling if I leave it on AP/ATH for two minutes to get a cup of tea!). Would still like to know more about the other aircraft.cfg lines though, quoted above. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
