Guys how do I delete a waypoint within FMS? Or, how do I select a direct fly-to?

I do see a "direct to" displayed in FMS, showing the waypoint it is flying to. I try to enter there the next waypoint I want to fly to, but it is not being processed/activated.

Sometimes I have a SID that is taking me too far and I want to "clean it up" ether by deleting waypoints of the SID or the original plan, and don't know how.

 

Highlight the way point, press back and enter.
