MacRobertson Race 2005 about to start

Featured Replies

Plenty of talk going around between myself, Steve and Matt re next years race (trophy on the way when I reach Melbourne Steve). The "Powder Puff Derby" (herein just called the "Puff" is a long race across America and will take a lot of prep so no news for a while. If you are interested in those or any other races set up to 1939 send an email to [email protected] and I will update you when things start to happen. If you are really keen I am flying from Melbourne non stop sometime and expect to start this Friday or Saturday. The guy who won the race in 1934 did it and set a new record which I intend to beat. If you want to join me on any of those legs say so and I will be happy to race you as well as the clock. I won't expect anyone to fly all the way cos it really will be non stop and could take three days. Rules same as this one but everyone flies the deHavilland Comet.I am nothing at all to do with the inter site RTW race but maybe you shuold look at that too. I know that I will, sounds cool.Well, yet again I have turbulence (don't we all love Activesky V - MS weather hardly had any at all) and am bouncing over the open sea in the dark following course 120 in the hope I hit Australia somewhere near enough to Darwin to land with fuel and not fumes.Night allAndrew

Interesting commecnts so far. Already have four entrants!ThankyouAndrew

Having reached Charleville looks as if I have been beaten again. Before the race I spend ages setting up AI of those planes which flew in 1934. Last to leave Charleville should be a Geebee and guess what - just as I shut down my engines the Geebee taxied to active and left me behind. That mens everyone else is way ahead. Oh well seems I am getting used to this losing thing if only I hadnt needed so much sleep. Here goes nothing as they say,Andrew
