Saitek Multi Panel - AP buttons problem

I have the Saitek Multi Panel working with Linda 2.6.3 - almost!

 

I am trying to get it work with a simple default aircraft (Baron) 

 

The rotaries work

The pitch wheel works (a little too agressively)

Flaps Full Up or Full down - can't get them to increment

 

The AP buttons do not work !

 

They light up and flash when pressed - but do not make any changes in the simulator

I am guessing something is overriding them but I cannot find what.

 

I am using the Saitek drivers and the SaiPanels.exe

If I disable SaiPanels.exe I lose the screen display.

 

Should I be using the SPAD drivers ?

 

Advice would be gratefully received as I now tearing my hair out.
