July 10, 200520 yr I have quite a few scenery addons -- set in different parts of the world. Are there any significant, noticeable benefits to de-selecting those addons in areas of the world that I am not flying today?? Perhaps the Sim loads faster - but that would be counteracted by the time involved in selecting/deselecting the different areas. Then again - Confucious says - What does man do with 1/10th of second saved in 100 metre race?Barry
July 10, 200520 yr I suggest you dont bother yourself doing that :) You will begin to find it frustrating! And like you said - the sim will load fast but then you will think "Hmm I wanna fly to Tasmania today...oh I need to enable that first!":)
July 11, 200520 yr One perk of having FSNav is that it allow you to enable scenery without starting FS. I disable a lot of the addon scenery that I don't use regularly. Using FSNav makes enabling those sceneries before starting FS9 a snap.BlairCYOW
July 11, 200520 yr Author Actually , I should have asked a further question -- I only have 512 meg RAM and I have noticed that with complex payware a/c, I run dangerously close to using the whole 512 megs and my Sim has to occasionally pause to use the Windows Ramdisk ( or whatever you call it! ) I use FS Autostart - so I am wondering if , by deselecting some sceneries, the Sim will not only load faster but use up less physical RAM.Barry
