FSPassengers suitable for GA Air Taxi/Charter?

Featured Replies

Would those of you who have this elaborate on its suitability for a small GA Air Taxi/Charter service? Some specific questions I have are:1. Does it allow for charging per hour for an aircraft?2. What GA aircraft are included, and how hard is it to develop custom data for aircraft that are not included?TIA.Basil

As I understand it, at this time you can only get paid for MILES not TIME. The question was asked on their forum about sight-seeing tours where you would take off and land at the same airport. It's something they're considering for an update. It will work with any plane, in fact if you choose career mode, you have to start in a single-engine prop plane and work your way up.So far, any of my FS add-on planes have worked fine with it. If it doesn't have specific data for a plane (which you can add) it will use generic data for a plane of a similar type.Seems to be very flexible and customizable. (is that a word?)Jim

can you have a cargo service instead of being forced to haul people around?

I've been doing purely GA flying with it so far and it does work quite well. You don't make quite as much money, but the planes are cheaper too.It has a payload editor that is very easy to use - I've made files for the Piper Super Cub and Bellanca Scout so far, you just have to go into the planes aircraft.cfg to find the necessary info.As for cargo - yes you can just haul cargo, you may want to make your own custom payload for a cargo version of the given plane though - for the super cub and scout I had a front cargo area located at the passenger seat so I could haul either a passenger or cargo there, of course you have to make sure you don't load both :(.Also make sure you watch your center of gravity - I put way too much cargo in the back of a 172 and it flew really poorly (worst part is I fly 172's for real and should know they can't haul 4 people and a lot of luggage on a hot day lol!)

I just picked it up too, started in career mode with the Aerosoft DH-2 Beaver of all things. FSP told me the maintenance cost would be high for such an old plane and even gave me the options to buy several different ones, some with many hours and some with less (more expensive of course). I bought one that was 100% fit. My first flight was Buttonville to Muskoka with 4 passengers and cargo. It also gives a purpose to flying which is very cool.I would like to see it generate random flights from a base airport for you. That would be kind of neat.Overall an excellent addition to MSFS.XP Home SP2Asus P4P800-SE Intel 3.0GHZDDR 400 D/C 2x512MBLeadtek 6800GT 256MB (71.84)SB AudigyMSFF2 & X45 throttleSee you in the fence...CYYZ
