July 15, 200520 yr Thanks a lot guys!Im on their website now...very nice I must say!I just have one more question:I am a casual simmer (CTRL+E for engine-start, GPS-direct for navigation etc.) Is this a complex plane to fly (do you *have to* follow the proper engine-start procedures etc.) or can it be flown in "simple" fashion? Many thanks! :)
July 15, 200520 yr It's simple. Engine start procedures are not much more involved than pressing a few buttons, and there's only a dozen or so to press overall :)Taxiing is "interesting" with the massive power from the engine accellerating you unless you play carefully with prop pitch and that huge long nose obscuring your vision.
July 16, 200520 yr Been flying the Porter for some time. Wonderful flying airplane. I don't think I've seen crisper VC textures in anything else including the many other FSD aircraft I own. One thing however about the Porter is you have to fly it to appreciate it. No sleek lines and seductive curves here. She's about the ugliest looking conglomeration of parts I've ever seen but a few minutes in the air and you'll overlook that aspect. :DIf you look around there's an Air Americal livery for the Porter. My favorite however is the parrot paintjob.
July 16, 200520 yr No problem starting the Porter. You do have to watch how you fly. FSD has an interesting configuration utility that monitors whether or not you abuse your airplane but of course the Porter is a good solid airplane made for rough usage. You'll know however if you cross the line. New gearbox is about $11,000. Luckily it's only virtual money. :)
