I know this has been mentioned in the past both on AVSIM and Flight1 forums but I still do not entirely understand why were the marker lights left out on the radio stack in the C172? Are they not important? Thank you.

I agree! Marker lights are important 'cause you can't fly some approaches if there aren't suitable substitutes available. Whoops!
