Alabeo Pitts Win XP patch - what does it do and how to un-do it?
Running a Windows 7 system and inadvertently applied the alabeo pitts win xp patch and now the aircraft has transparent textures. Whoops! Anyone with insight as to what this patch does and how to undo it? Many thanks.

Everyone is okay with flying in a simulation but how about a real plane?
Honestly I prefer simming to flying for real. The frame rates in the real airplane just don't compare to what I can get off of my rig.

Carenado P46T is just superb
I think this add-on is absolutely one of the best I've ever seen and for me well worth the very reasonable price. The interior is spectacular, the gauge quality is excellent and very clear, the sounds are immersive, and the flight dynamics are completely convincing. Well done, Carenado.

The trim bug in MSFlight Simulator
I can't even produce a decent dutch roll with any of the stock or add-on swept wing boeing aircraft with the yaw damper off.

Replacing PMDG MD-11 and 747-400
The Level-D 767 is a nice choice, with well modeled systems, nice VC and exterior.

User request
Is there a way to prevent uploading images > 200 kb programatically? It would seem completely reasonable to build in a filter to relieve the moderator from time consuming task of screening posts and deleting oversize images in the screenshot forum. Besides, in deleting screenshots and admonishing posters to read and adhere to the posting guidelines, the moderator conveys the impression of being a petulant schoolmarm, which I am certain is not the case.

Autopilot warning horn
I've turned off the autopilot to hand fly the airplane. How do I silence the autopilot warning horn? Thanks!

PMDG MD11 new purchase feedback
Wow the MD11 is pretty sophisticated and runs ok on a Dell Inspiron 9400 2 Gb RAM and stock NVidia GeForce 7900 GS 256 MB RAM. Framerates range between 10 - 30 with the sliders set to that recommended by the Orbx group. At first it crashed FSX alot, but after having run it a couple of times, I was able to complete the tutorial flight without problems and without tweaking (sometimes it seems software has to run a couple of time to get 'broken in', like a new engine or a pair of shoes!)I purchased the combo package, and the price took a big bite, but speaking only for myself I'm satisfied with the cost/value ratio.Hope this feedback may be useful to others! Thanks!

Carenado Mooney Question
I agree it's a sweet ride. I can't get the RPM to go below 2400 rpm at 8000' ISA at 22.8" MP pulling the prop control all the way back. Can anybody comment? Thanks

Developers - PLEASE make a weather program for FSX that WORKS

Carenado Mooney M20J FSX
Great airplane. Fantastic model. Everything about it is spectacular. My implementation gets 140 TAS at 8000 at standard conditions MP 23.5 and prop 2600 when the performance chart says 164 TAS. The cowl flaps are closed, mixture leaned, and (yes) the gear is retracted and flaps up. Anything else someone can point out that would get book values?Anybody know of a support forum for Carenado? Thanks for your input!

FEX = WOW
That's really all I can say at the moment! The Super-High-Definition is great! Great job Peter and Chris!

I'll take the plunge...Captain Sim 757 Block F - personally I think it's ok!
Pros1. Ground handling characteristics are different from block B2. FMS more fully implemented - has a nice hold feature3. Weather radar is cool4. Overhead switches do stuff now5. Frame rates are ok on a dual core machine with decent memory and a 256 mb video card6. Flight characteristics seem to better reflect loadings than earlier block b - no 6000' fpm climbs at gross weight accelerating any longer (darn!)7. Nice sound setCons1. I experienced a number of CTDs so I think the model is buggy (not too bad, though)2. Gauges are 'Captain-Sim-small' and hard to readOverall I like it - I got the 9 euro update to the existing block b and I'll continue to fly it.I hope others experience with this new package will be similarly successful!

Cloud height question
I suspected this was the case. Thank you for your helpful reply.

Changes in Real Weather?
FSX real weather option turns out to be pretty good, I think. I usually use that in lieu of ASX. On my system running ASX concurrently slows down FSX alot.

Need help from real-world Mooney pilot
"up" and "down" with respect to the trim indicator refers to the nose pitch attitude. If the trim is set to "Up" then the trim is all the way back and the airplane is flying at a nose high, very slow airspeed. If the trim is set to "Down" then the trim all the way forward and the airplane is flying at a nose down, very fast airspeed. In the top picture the indicator is showing that the trim is set for the nose up, or slow airspeed, position. The error here is that the labeling of the trim is wrong. By convention "Dn" should be labeled at the top of the indicator, and "Up" should be labeled at the bottom of the trim indicator. Carenado wired it correctly, they just placarded the trim indicator wrong. To summarize, if you want to fly slowly with a nose high attitude, then position the trim so that the pointer appears at the bottom of the indicator. If you want to fly fast position the trim pointer at the top of the indicator. This would be consistent with normal airplane placarding and operation. Hope this helps.

Cloud height question
If I go to customize weather and set a single cloud layer to be, say 30,000 feet in vertical extent, with a base at 1000' agl, the clouds always top out at 10,000 on my system. Does anybody know why this might be the case? Thanks so much.

Which aircraft would you pick?
I just love the Carenado C182RG. It's such a capable airplane and fun to fly.

Anybody been using the new VOZ for FSX?
who is the chief? I can't remember!

VOZ SceneryX 1.0 has landed
I thought Coffs Harbor was quite nice. The documentation lists the custom airports included in the package. Try one of those.

VOZ SceneryX 1.0 has landed
VOZ scenery X 1.0 + FSX = absolutely unbelievable. It's that good. Really. FSX is the best simulator, in my opinion, period. And it just keeps getting better and better.
