The Northeast and Ultimate Terrain

Featured Replies

Got a question, The Northeast (New York city, Philly) and Ultimate terrain just brings my system to a halt. I have Framerates set at 25 and I can fly all over the country never really dropping below 20 in most cases, even into LAX with a loaded airport. Any ideas on how I can at least get New York and Philly to run a bit better?? I am dropping down to 3-8FPS in that area with no clouds and no traffic. I understand that the region is very dense and there in alot of data that goes long with it. And let me get one thing straight, I'm not complaining, I think UT is one of the best addons I've bought in a few years. I just trying to figure out ways just to make that one part of the country run a bit better.

Turn of the residential roads in the UT configurator. The urban textures look like they have roads anyway, so just using the major roads will give a good illusion and should help your frame rates. You might also try turning off extended textures in the FS9 Display Options screen.Tony

Hey Tony, thanks for the reply, I'll give it a shot. I downloaded new drivers a week or so ago because Battlefield 2 was asking for them, and after some testing tonight that's got to be most of my problem. I am using the 77.72's and they work real well with BF2, but not good at all with FS9, I've had real good sucess with the 61.77 drivers in FS. So you guys playing BF2 and FS what's the solution here?? My first thought is go back to the 61.77 drivers and try to get BF2 to work with them, even if I got to turn stuff way down.

i'm using the 77.72's as well (for Battlefield 2 too) and don't have any problems with FS2004. Why do you say the new drivers are your problem? The road network in New York is very dense, and there is all that new, detailed coastline as well. There is a lot there for your computer to crunch in those areas.Tony
