July 24, 200520 yr My pitch trim keeps self adjusting to full nose down trim, meaning the little white notch keeps going all the way to the top.If I set it to the middle, or to T/O position, it will just go right back to the top. Anyone have any ideas?
July 24, 200520 yr What buttons or controls do you have your trim set to in the settings? Are you using a joystick or contoller? I Remember having a problem with my Opera browser where the bookmarks panel would always stay open sometimes regardless of what I did (I would often restart the browser and restart windows). I finally figured out that somehow it was set that if the 'aux' switch on my Saitek X-45 was switched to the 3rd position my browser read this as 'open bookmarks panel' shortcut. I use this position for 'reduce throttle quickly' (or reverse thrust) in FS2004 and finally figured out that was the issue LOL.Anyway, I guess my point is it does sound like some command is continuously "on" for the trim so you should check your assignments and then make sure some key on some controller isn't switched to that all the time.
July 24, 200520 yr Author If you are coupled to the Autopilot, pitch trim can get out of range if you outside the performance envelope of the aircraft (weight and balance, correct IAS and flap settings, etc.). If you have enabled A/P altitude and you are on the ground it may go full nose high or lowdepending on the altitude settings. If you have it coupled and have set too high a climb rate for the airspeed and weight the same could occur. Nose down is a little more intriguing. How do you have trim mapped to your controller and you also want to make sure the probably repeat is off. Check for an assignment conflict.Just describe what situation you are in when this occurs. There are many scenarios.

July 24, 200520 yr Author Something else for the pre-takeoff checklist :).Generally with most autopilots I have the runway heading and initial altiude dialed in and illumninated. The master A/P switch is off but FD is on. I hand fly the first few hundred feet of altitude and then engage the A/P. Occasionally before the takeoff roll starts tower directs a non-runway heading which I dial in. That way I'm all setwhen A/P is engaged. The other mistake I have made is saving a flight at a parking spot with spoilers extended. I now check that for take-off spoilers are retracted and not armed.
