January 18, 200521 yr He knows Boeing vs Airbus posts aren't allowed so he tries an Embraer vs Boeing post in an attempt to stir up some heat ;)No, Boeing isn't afraid of Embraer. If they were they'd just buy them and swallow them whole :)Fact is the 717 never sold in numbers and lately several prospects chose not to purchase, instead keeping their older aircraft or putting expansion programs on ice.That now makes it uneconomical to keep the production line open (if it ever was economical but you got to deliver what you promissed to) so it's closed.Maybe if the 736 didn't exist they'd keep it open to have something in the market segment but since they have that one there's no reason to do that either.
