August 11, 200520 yr Your approach sounds good to me. As well as your list though I keep a kettle and a TV in the same room. Finding it so hard to leave the PC the thought of leaving the room is almost too much to bear.In flight I would say don't pause unless absolute necessary. Keep sim rate to 1X. Oh, and always keep a stock of food in the fridge that is quick to prepare to avoid having to leave the cockpit for longer than is absolutely necessary, personally I bring a stock of cookies etc into the room to try and avoid those annoying food breaks as much as possible. I fly aircraft from the 20s and 30s and I have considered a desk top fan pointed at my face to simulate the air blowing through your hair in an open cockpit and don't forget the fan heater should the weather start warming up. I think I would draw the line at installing a shower over the computer though I hear they don't appreciate rain and snow.Anyone have an idea to simulate the turbulance? I tried jumping up and down on the floor but the neighbours complained ;-)Andrew BrownROARING THIRTIEShttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
August 14, 200520 yr Sounds like fun! I usually end up looking over the sectionals for the smallest airport I can find, then attempt to navigate to and land at that airport. If you want sectional/TAC charts for the entire US, I have them posted at http://zovirl.com/2005/maps/sectionals/Sec...005_06_05/about. I sized them to display inside FSBrowser while I'm flying though, so I don't know what they look like if you try to print them.
August 14, 200520 yr If you're looking for challenge RE: small airports there is one under your nose: For a lark recently I flew the set of flight plans that come with FS9 and are labelled Modern: Aerial Chauffeur (look in C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Flightsaerial". They are short and sweet. I just grabbed the flight plans, used various RW weather, and ignored the default setup. The challeging one is the KPVC to 7B2, especially withg choppy weather. 7B2 is only 50 feel wide and 3000' long and nested behind a hill. Like hitting a haystack. There are 2 authorized GPS approaches that bring one in from the north or south but are aligned almost 90 degrees from the rwy. I tried three aircraft ad each one was really hard to land well. I was either off the center line or landed hard. Gave up temporarily but plan to return.
