August 11, 200520 yr Am running Win XP Pro SP2 with full admin. rights (full control of FS2004 folder too). However, whenever I try to install new scenery, FS2004 says "You do not have permission to install files on this computer." It then updates the scenery database. When I go to the airport in question, the gate locations have updated but the default scenery is visible. Thanks for any help :DJames
August 12, 200520 yr Have you tried getting round it by setting up a new user and seeing if that works? William Hall
August 12, 200520 yr >>Have you tried getting round it by setting up a new user and>seeing if that works?Yeah and still no further luck lol - have even tried logging on as the main Admin account in XP. Am really tearing my hair out over this one :-mad James
August 12, 200520 yr Since you have XP Pro, take a look at the scenery folder security settings themselves. See what type of permissions administrators and interactive users have. make sure you can write as well as read this folder. just a shot in the dark.
August 15, 200520 yr Yes, check to make sure the FS folders aren't read-only. FS checks to see if it can write to them and if not gives you the error message. It doesn't actually check to see if you're an admin.
