August 20, 200520 yr When taking off the scenery is clear as a bell, as I gain altitude the scenery fades into a a blur and only comes back clear as I go along my route, but, then only in segments; the scenery is blurred off to the horizon and the clear areas I had passing through fade back to a blur behind me.As I start my approach to an airport, the scenery becomes clear in segments as I decrease altitude. I seem to have only have clear scenery in the vicinity of where I am flying or taxing at an airport.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks[ Dell 8400/P4/3.4 GHz/2GB RAM/256 ATI Raedon 800XT/PCI,Viewsonic 19" 900-2/WIN XP Home ]
August 20, 200520 yr This is normal in FS9. I don't think there is anyone here who enjoys super sharp scenery all the way to horizon. If you search this forum for "blurry" you will find hundreds of post on the subject and people offering all kinds of magic tips. None of them work as far as I am concerned - some will help just a bit but there is nothing out there that would solve this issue in a meaningful way.Michael J. Michael J.
August 21, 200520 yr Thanks for your response. I spent most of day searching forums and came up with several FS9.cfg tweaks; the one below did the trick after I fiddled with it a bit, now have clear, crisp scenery as far as I can see with no blurry scenery at all day or night....finally ..)UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=800WarnBadSecondary=0[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=45.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=45.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=0TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=40.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=60.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4
