16 bit???

Featured Replies

I do believe I have solved a stutter problem. Either that or I am nuts. I have always had microstutter from cloud draw and occasional AI stuff. I have done all the tweaks (just like everyone else in here!) Tonight I tried something different. I set my X800XL to very high settings with 1280x960, unlocked the frame rates and set the sim AND the desktop to 16 bit. Low and behold I had a SMOOOTH flight from KSLC to KPIH, butter smooth the whole time, just some high cirrus, but 40% AI and everything else just about maxxed. Any downside to doing this?? I don't recall seeing this in the past so I thought I would mention it. Only problem I see is screenshots have some banding but I dont use the sim to take screenshots!!!!!Hornit

If it works for you, great, but that banding became so noticeable, particularly at night, that I went back to 32-bit, and just dropped some sliders. Same result, but looks better to my eyes.Allcott

I don't get banding while Im in the sim, but I see it in screenshots for sure. I think as long as it's ok here I'm gonna keep it and see if its really noticeable. Everybody's system is slightly different, maybe I have done something that has given me that elusive "perfect combo of tweaks" we'l see.Hornit
