August 30, 200520 yr I am sure this question has been asked before but I have not been able to find an answer doing a search.I am looking at installing Ultimate Traffic for commercial AI traffic and GA-Traffic for the GA type traffic.Do I still need to have Airline and General Aviation traffic selected in FS9? I know that I need to still set the Air Traffic Density but wasn't sure about these two other options. Thanks in advance.
August 30, 200520 yr Having "Airline" traffic selected will enable AI aircraft with an entry in the atc_airline= part of the repaint configuration to display.Having "General Aviation" traffic selected will enable AI aircraft without an entry in the atc_airline= part of the repaint configuration to display.FS has no clue if a B747 is general aviation or airline. The default FS2004 AI has 1/2 of the Cessna Caravan flights as Airline and 1/2 as General Aviation. (Which is why you hear LANDMARK callsign with only the GA traffic loaded but Airline also selected).
August 30, 200520 yr Thanks for the reply but I am not sure if you have answered my question. The Ultimate Traffic and GA-Traffic utilities generate AI traffic at the various airports. If I am using these utilities to generate the traffic, do I still need to select the Airline and General Aviation options in FS9?I guess the question I should have asked is what do people do with with these two options if they have Ultimate Traffic and GA-Traffic installed?
August 31, 200520 yr Hi,Yes you do. The airline and GA traffic from both programs is coded as described above. If both boxes are unchecked you will have no traffic.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
August 31, 200520 yr Ultimate Traffic and GA-Traffic compile/ create Traffic_xxx.BGL scenery files.Once the traffic file is created - those two programs have finished their job.Once Flight Simulator starts - those scenery files are used to generate AI aircraft by FS.But which AI aircraft are generated are controlled by the regular AI settings within FS - the show or not show Airlines and GA Traffic buttons and the AI percentage slider. Those functions work the same, not matter which program creates the AI traffic file. But as I said above - FS only decides if a repaint or aircraft is GA or Airline based on the entry in the aircraft.cfg file.In just a few minutes - I could easily turn all the Cessna's into Airline and the Airbuses into GA.If you want aircraft with a call sign - you must enable the Airline traffic. If you want aircraft without a call sign - you must enable the GA Traffic.
