LINDA, P3Dv3 and multiple config-hid.lua files

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am running LINDA v.2.6.4 (149) in Prepar3Dv3 with FSUIPC 4.948 on WIN7.
From the beginning it was not very reliable. There were several instances when the assigned buttons didn't work after starting P3D. In these cases LINDA was extremely laggy and hat to be terminated by Task Manager several times.
In my linda-cfg\system folder there are several config-hid-yymmddxxxx.lua files (y=year, m=month, d=day, xxxx=four digit number), apparently a new config-hid.lua was created nearly every day, sometimes there are several files in a day.
LINDA summary says everything is o.k with Joysticks, listing correctly my HOTAS Warthog Joystick and Throttle and the Saitek Pro Flight Quadrant.
It says FSX/FSUIPC files are found, but version is unknown. It states that setup is required for VRinsight MCP Compo, as I don't have one installed.
After installing older simconnect versions and using the CLOSE parameter in FSUIPC.ini to terminate LINDA after P3d is closed it seems to run stable.
The only remaining issue is the permanent creation of config-hid.lua-files.

Here is the actual Log-file.

Hi Tom, welcome to LINDA. Sorry to hear of your issues.  First, the time-stamped config-hid-xxxx.lua files are backups saved each time your click to save a new assignment(s) on the Joysticks page.  Once you have the configuration you want, the backups can be deleted. Secondly, you don't say how laggy you think LINDA is. LINDA works on a 1 second (1Hz) cycle. It is not too efficient in handling fast repeating actions.

If you don't have a VRI Combo MCP panel, go to the MCP setup page and untick Enabled checkbox and then save.

If you have any further issues, open the LINDA Console and click Restart Lau Engine. Then cut-and-paste the console window into an email to linda@awginfosys.net. (This saves cluttering up the forum).  Good luck.

Thank you for your quick response. I don't change any assignments, nevertheless I am getting the time stamped config files. "Laggy" is not quite exact, at that times LINDA wouldn't recognise the assigned switches and "nearly frozen" would have been more correct. The program didn't react to mouseclicks or other input so I had to terminate it by Windows Task Manager. But that isn't an issue any more. I don't know if installing older simconnect versions or using the CLOSE-parameter in FSUIPC.ini did the trick, but every  time I fire up P3D, LINDA starts and works correctly. So it's more or less a cosmetical issue as I could surely delete the obsolete config files from time to time. But I want to have my setup working properly before I start installing addons. I don't have these issues with FSX and older version of LINDA/FSUIPC.

Btw: Restarting LUA didn't produce any result in the console window and MCP is unticked.
