September 4, 200520 yr Is there a way to have ATC stop whining about vintage aircraft climb rates? ("XXXX, please expedite your climb to 5,500"). Some of the older aircraft climb at less than 500 fpm. Victor Buck
September 4, 200520 yr I sometimes get these comments from the FS ATC too. Does it occur only in IFR? Here in the US, when flying IFR, at least 500 fpm climb is required, and if less is a required reporting to ATC (happens to me when I file IFR in the C172S, and ATC assigns 11,000'= eastbound MOCA minimum when I fly to KCOS from my home airport in the Denver area. Most controllers are puzzled when I report in with this abnormality :) ). The MEA on this route is 13,000', goodness knows how the 172 would perform with several pax then, not to mention the oxygen requirements after 30 minutes :)It might be good if the FS ATC had a function where one could report a lower than 500fpm climb, then not be harrassed all the time for it :).Bruce. Someday, you'll have to start calculating aircraft structure loads, and the point they'll start coming to pieces! :)L.Adamson --- from the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) point of viewedit-- M key is stuck
