Is there a way to change the background  from the MS default, so that it blends? I've looked at ADE but the background doesn't show.

Do you mean the green rectangle around many small airports? I found that Instant Scenery is great at this, and I've been using it to blend the airports in Egypt and Kenya where those green rectangles stick out like a sore thumb!

IS is a must have revolutionary product for me, allowing me to add all those 3D landmarks to Orbx England, Wales and Scotland that I know from personal experience, It also allows you to place 2D polygons onto the surface, matching any of the terrain types on your system. I just choose dirt or desert and cover the entire airfield rectangle with the new shape. Once it renders, all the taxiways and runways and buildings, etc, show through the new terrAin choice.
