Best Slider Settings for IFR Flying

I am typically a GA flyer in good weather.  I have a friend coming over to do some simulated IFR approaches.  With my typical settings, when I add weather my FPS slows to a crawl.  I am wondering which sliders I can adjust that will have the biggest impact to FPS given that most of time we will not even be able to see the ground?
