Wrong path to aircraft

Featured Replies

Hi Maarten,

at first i wish you a good new year!

I got an error "Cannot find file: D:\FluSi\P3Dv3\ addons\simobjects\airplanes\altramax\aircraft.cfg" so i performed a reuild of the

aircraft database. Here are parts of my logfile:

20160122135959 Detecting aircraft

20160122135959 Reading aircraft list from C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\SimObjects.cfg

20160122140007 Processing 422 aircraft types

20160122140109 "

Finished processing 422 aircraft types, 6818 variations (including AI)

"

20160122140111 Prepar3D database created in 1328 seconds

...

20160122140114 50 flights loaded

20160122140115 Unable to open panel.cfg file for aircraft variation: Black Rainbow With Panel

...

20160122140117 Cannot find file: D:\FluSi\P3Dv3\ addons\simobjects\airplanes\altramax\aircraft.cfg

The filepath in the last row is wrong, after "D:\FluSi\P3Dv3" there should be no backslash.

The missing ac exists in the aircraft list, but if i select it i get the missing aircraft messagebox 3 times.

In C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\SimObjects.cfg

the path is defined as:

[Entry.12]

Title=AddOn Airplanes

Path=D:\FluSi\P3Dv3 AddOns\Simobjects\Airplanes

Cheers, Walter.

Hi Walter,

I do not understand your remark about the backslash. There should be a backslash between P3Dv3 and addons. Can you please send me an e-mail with the complete log file attached? Maybe the formatting of the forum message is hiding the issue.

Thanks, Maarten

Hi Maarten,

if you really need it, i will send you a complete logfile. But the problem is very simple:

In my simobjects.cfg there is a row with the following path:

Path=D:\FluSi\P3Dv3 AddOns\Simobjects\Airplanes , but SLX is searching for

20160122140117 Cannot find file: D:\FluSi\P3Dv3\ addons\simobjects\airplanes\altramax\aircraft.cfg

As you can see, the correct path is

D:\Flusi\P3Dv3 AddOns..... but SLX tries to use

D:\Flusi\P3Dv3\ AddOns...

                        ^

                        ||

Do you notice the backslash after "P3Dv3"?

Or to explain it further, the name of the folder is "P3Dv3 AddOns", not "AddOns" in "P3Dv3".

Thanks, Walter.

Hi Walter,

Sorry about the late response. It took a little while to find the cause of the issue. The issue occurs because the path to your addon aircraft folder starts with the exact same string as the path to your Prepar3D installation folder. I will try to find a fix as soon as possible, but If you want a quick fix: store your addon aircraft in a folder with a path not starting with the string "D:\Flusi\P3Dv3" and change the %AppData%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\simobjects.cfg file accordingly.

thanks, Maarten

Hi Maarten, thanks for the update.

The problem is solved.

I noticed another old thing (no problem, but somewhat strange): Everytime i launch SLX, it detects 2 new aircraft types.

To supress that message i switched to Profiles/Edit and unchecked the "check for new aircraft" checkbox. After clicking the "Save" button i got a "Alert" message box with the text:

"Value cannot be null

Parameter name: dataItem"

and the program exits. After restart of SLX everything is fine but if i try to save changes to the profile it crashes with the above message.

Cheers, Walter

Hi Walter,

Can you please check the latest version? I think I fixed the crash that occurs when saving changes to a profile.

thanks, Maarten

Hi Maarten,

thanks, no more crash.

SLX still reports 2 new  aircraft types on every launch. Could you write something into the logfile to identify that planes?

By the way, the line "use CPU0 when connected" is not visible in the profiles-tooltip window.

Cheers, Walter.
