September 21, 200520 yr I started getting stutters (every 3 seconds) during take off and landing (fs9.1). The higher the altitude the less the stutters. Happens with any plane and happens with MegaCity and sparse airports like Boise. Turning off traffic doesn't help. Any ideas? Stutters are not caused by loading scenery.
September 23, 200520 yr The stutters start as soon as the airplane takes off and become less as the airplane ascends. I found a band-aid solution by setting the target frame rate to 18, I had it set at unlimited. Changing the Texture_Bandwith_Mult from 400 to 80 and then to the weird 16776704 number did not remove the stutter problem. Changing the video card from quality to performance setting did nothing.I run FS9.1 on a dedicated computer that has never been connected to the internet, and no hardware changes. 80GB hard drive has 33GB free space and with no additional addons installed just one day FS9.1 decides to give problems like the stutters after take off. Doing a search seems like FS9 starts to do weird things all by itself. Why? Didn't try rebuilding the FS9 config file yet. Why does rebuiding the FS9 config file sometimes solve problems when you end up with the same text inside that file?

I'm gonna say it is probably the graphics card. The higher you fly, the less detail that is drawn. The rest of the system seems fine, but the graphics card could create a bottleneck.Try lowering your visible distance to 60 and see if that helps. September 30, 200520 yr The stutter problem disappeared after I deleted the fs9 config file and let fs9 built a new one. I've had fs9 on my computer for 10 months now and this is the first time I had to rebuilt the fs9 config file to solve a problem. Why did that fix my problem? The fs9 config file just contains my fs9 settings and it's a text file so how does it become corrupted and a rebuilt is needed? Obviously lots of things going on in the background.
September 30, 200520 yr That fs9 config file is a black box of voodoo in my opinion. I keep a good one backed up and use it when I suspect mine's gotten a little ill. I would wager that if you looked at the old config before you trashed it that you had multiple disply settings that were conflicting listed in it. Once you kill it and birth another, the conflicts disappear.have a good one
