Strange case of the vanishing 2004

Featured Replies

New computer arrives, configured with the aid of the kids' inheritance as my dream machine for virtual flight. Buy fresh 2004 to go with it. Install goes fine. Double-click on icon. Up comes initial pic of DC3. It vanishes, and now comes bliss. But hey, it doesn't. Nothing happens at all. Monitor screen is blank and black. I reboot and try swapping over disc 4 to the DVD drive. No joy. Reboot again. Same result, so....[1] try launch from program list. Nope. [2] Check C drive. All files and folders where they should be.[3] Uninstall and reinstall. Same problem. [4] Aha! 9.1! I've avoided it so far, so perhaps now? It makes no difference. [5] Frustration drives me to buy the only sim I can find on Sunday, Combat 3. OK, I know it's crap - I threw it away ages ago. But let's see if it loads. WOW! It does, and perfectly. Now I'm lumbered with a hugely expensive computer which only runs crap. So what on earth isscuppering my 2004 - sorry, Fs9? If anyone out there can suggest a solution, I'd be very grateful indeed. [The computer has installed a whole bunch of other programs with no problems at all]

Video card driver incompatability possibly. Maybe try a different driver..

New PC...fails after splashscreen...it's almost certainly a video driver issue. Newest may fix, otherwise ask on the hardware forum for the best driver version for your particular video card.
