Multiplayer Question / Help

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping someone can help me out.  I've run FSX for a long time, but haven't done much multiplayer.  I played with 2 friends via gamespy a number of years ago, and we had a pretty good time.  Wanting to play again, I set up an extra machine as an independent server... made sure the firewall and router settings were set up correctly as well.

I am in Northern Virginia, one of my friends is 20 minutes away, and the other lives in San Diego.  The friend who lives 20 minutes away was able to connect to my server just fine via IP direct connect, but the friend in San Diego wasn't able to connect at all.  He did multiple restarts, and even restarted his router too.

We used to all fly together on gamespy without a problem.  Does anyone have an idea on why this isn't working?  Any thoughts would be appreciated!  Thanks!
