What is the correct way to start engines on airliners like the 727, 737, 747..?Do you engage the starters and at 20% turn the fuel starters on? I think I rememeber seeing a pilot for a 747-400 start the fuel first and then the starters.Thanks,Bill

Well the exact procedure depends on which aircraft you are flying, but in general,fuel is not turned on until the engine is spooled up, otherwise you get a hot start, which is not good.

In a 744, it has auto-start, which will not work unless the fuel flow switch is already on when you hit the nob.But other airplanes, yes you wait until a certain temperature until starting the fuel flow
