Which aircraft and flt sim are you using? The appears to be a confusion between feet and metres between the FSX default aircraft and A2A C172.

This would be the A2A Cessna 182

On which Simulator?

FSX Steam single install Windows 7 64 bit

Hi James

You will find LINDA 2.6.8 v3 (build 216) should solve your altitude display issue. It only affected A2A aircraft running on FSX/FSX-SE. It did not affect other aircraft or flight simulators that I could establish.

Thank you so much. Strange that it only affected FSX/FSX-SE. Must be something in their programing. Off to download v3. Thank you again.

I experienced the same problem:  Saitek Multi Panel AP altitude showing meters instead of feet, while the altitude is in feet on the FSX screen.

When turning the knob to increase or decrease the altitude, the Multi Panel Display temporarily shows the altitude in feet (same as on the FSX-screen), but when releasing the the knob the Multi Panel shows the altitude in meters again. I have installed (and un-installed) the A2A C172 in the past, and that probably caused the problem.

I found the fix to this problem by editing the file "common.lua" in ..\Flight Simulator X\Modules\linda\system. I de-activated the  feet-to-meter conversion in case LINDA sees P3D or A2A as active. Add the comment sign "--" to the lines in common.lua as shown below.

function setALTValue (value)
local alt
    alt = value
--    if P3D == 1 or A2A == 1 then    (add "--" to beginning of line)
--        alt = alt / 3.2808399    (add "--" to beginning of line)
--    end    (add "--" to beginning of line)
ipc.writeUD(0x07D4, alt * 65536)
end

For me this solved a very annoying problem,

Hi Crokybird

Welcome to the LINDA community forum and thank you for your question. I assume you are using FSX or FSX-SE and not P3D.

The metre/feet display issue was found to occur with P3D and A2A aircraft. The code you have commented out was a fix put in to remove the metre display is those conditions. I will will recheck my set up with both flt sim combinations with A2A aircraft.

Yes, I am using FSX.

I have uninstalled the A2A aircraft, but I still use the A2A Accu-Feel (v2) addon. This add-on also has the option C172 Aircraft On/Off, but that did not change anything.

I have activated the lua-code again in function setALTValue (by removing the "--" at the beginning of the lines), and now the meter-feet problem does NOT occur again. Everything works OK, even when I re-install the A2A C172 aircraft

Somehow, by changing the common.lua code and changing it back again, the meter-feet is resolved. I suspect a resetting of the A2A-parameter somewhere.

I have also a problem with feet / meter.

My config:

FSX SP2 / FSUIPC 4.971 / Linda 2.9.6.550 / Saitek 6.6.4.9 / WIN10 / Multipanel

Airplane: Standard C172 / Carenado PA28 / Beech baron 58

Using the function SAI MULTI increase value / SAI MULTI descrease value

Autopilot ALT on Saitek and FSX show 0 / 00000. - 1 turn on Multipanel to increase - ALT on Saitek show ALT 122 on FSX 00400 - 1 turn on Multipanel to decrease - ALT on Saitek show ALT 30 on FSX 00100 - then increase - Saitek ALT 152 FSX 00500 - then decrease - Saitek ALT 61 FSX 00200 - and so on. Same problem with VS. Problem with all airplanes. i try the change from Crokybird (Feb 21) - no change.

Kind regards

Bernd

Hi Bernd

Please install LINDA 3.0.4. This has a fix for the reported m/ft issue. If the problem then still exists then report back please.

Hello Andrew,

thanks for your quick answer.

LINDA 3.0.4.728 is installed with this result:

ALT: FSX 00000 Saitek 0 - incr 1 turn - FSX 00300 Saitek 91 - incr 1 turn - FSX 00600 Saitek 183 - decr 1 turn - FSX 00300 Saitek 91

VS: FSX 00000 Saitek ----- - incr 1 turn - FSX 00300 Saitek ----- - decr 1 turn - FSX 00000 Saitek -----  (only hyphen).

I'm not happy to report this.

Kind regards

Bernd
