Scenery cfg question

Recommended Posts

I have 923 entries in my scenery cfg file. I was wondering how many more entries can go in the cfg file? Can 1,000 or more be entered? Does anyone here have more than 923 entries?

1100 here so no problem, think it goes up to 10000.

Thanks for that info. I thought maybe the limit was 1,000. Good to hear that it is not.

There may not be a limit to the number of sceneries you can have in the scenery.cfg file, but I believe there is a limit to the number of sceneries FS2004 will store in its internal scenery database management system. That limit is 1099. You can add as many scenery entries as you like in scenery.cfg, but in FS2004 the scenery library will not list more than 1099 entries.

Nevertheless, from my testing, those extra sceneries over the 1099 mark will still be loaded and displayed if you fly to them in FS9. (I tried with about 1500 entries). so maybe the limitation was in the MS interface designer not thinking the library list dialog would need more than 1099 entries.

Maybe some guru knows if there is, in fact, a limit to the number of sceneries FS9 can handle.
