Changing Livery Order for a particular aircraft?

Recommended Posts

Guest Paul Heaney

Ok, here's what I can't figure out. I'll use the Default B747-400 for this example, as everyone has it.When you select this aircraft, the Global Freightways livery shows up as the default livery. I tried switching in the aircraft.cfg file, between Global Freight and Landmark, by copying and pasting. I Moved Global to the second entry, and Landmark as the first, and renamed Landmark to [fltsim.0] and [fltsim.1] now becomes Global Freight. When I load up the sim, and select the default B747-400, Global Freight is still shown as the default.I'd like to move some liveries around so that a particular one loads first, as the secondaries are not flown as much, if not at all. So that everytime I load the sim, and select this aircraft, Landmark will be displayed as the default.Anyone know how to change this?

The lists are displayed alphabetically based on info in the fltsim.x section of the aircraft.cfg, so you would need to change the name. However, the first entry, "title=xxx" has nothing to do with the order in which planes are displayed.Essentially, planes are sorted for the selection menu based on the following three criteria:First, planes are sorted by manufacturer based on the text in the following line of the fltsim.x section of the aircraft.cfg:ui_manufacturer=BoeingPlanes are then sorted by aircraft type based on this line:ui_type=737-400Lastly, they are sorted by their "variation" or livery from this line:ui_variation=American Pacific AirwaysFor example, if selecting Boeing 737-400s, the first plane that will appear is the one that comes first alpabetically, which in the case of the default repaints is American Pacific Airways. If I wanted another, say Landmark, to be the first one that appears, I would have to make its "ui_variation=" line come before American Pacific Airways alphabetically. One way to do this would be to rename it as "ui_variation=AA Landmark Airlines". Another way would be to add numbers to the beging of each airline name eg, "ui_variation=01 Landmark Airlines" and "ui_variation=02 American Pacific Airways" and so forth to reorder them as desired.Hope this helps.Nick

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!There's an easier way- Flight Sim Manager 2.8 in the library. An 8 Meg D/L from Avsim, can be used with or without FSAutostart. Too many other great things included to even start mentioning this late. Though it's freeware, it's even got its own support forum and if you include your E-mail Addy in the automatic error report (happened today for the first time ever and I'm 90% sure it was my fault) they will respond with a fix if possible.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
