Prepar3D Ugly scenery in the distance

Featured Replies

Good day,

I have been flying P3D for a while now, but I cant get over how ugly the scenery looks int the distance.

It is really clear right below me but when I look further away from my position (in every direction) the scenery is really blurry

Can someone help me with this?

Many thanks in advance

Bart

A screenshot might help to see if you really have a problem or if things simply are as they are. 'Really blurry' is a very subjective description.

Make sure you have the terrain LOD at max and anisotropic filtering on 16x for a start. Beyond that there is nothing you can do to make the distant scenery sharper. In FSX you could extend the LOD radius beyond the sliders max, but I think that is not possible with P3D.

Zooming-out to widen the field of view helps with external cameras.

Make sure you have the terrain LOD at max

If you suffer of OOM and low VAS, you may have to dial back the slider though. In that case best to have different profiles depending on the kind of flight (IFR, VFR).

Regards,

Chris

That's no problem for me, I've only OOM'ed once at JFK nad I'm running at 75% max at non JFK airports
