Autopilot compared to the PA32 Saratoga II

Featured Replies

Hello,

i love the Autopilot in the Chieftain because it is the only one (in my hole fleet) that can hold the Alt and i am still able to control the Airplane with the Yoke. It is fantastic for me as a nonpilot to enjoy the flight and don't pay attention to the altitude.

My question is:

It seams, that the Saratoga also uses the same Autopilot-System. Why is it impossible in the Saratoga to control the Airplane to left and right, when the Autopilot ALT-Hold is on? Is there an ini-entry to change the behavior?

Regards

Raller

Ok, i found the answer myself.

Responsible are the following entries in the aircraft.cfg:

[autopilot]

use_no_default_pitch=1

default_pitch_mode=0
use_no_default_bank=1
default_bank_mode=0

Explanation:

default_pitch_mode
This determines the default pitch mode when the autopilot logic is turned on.
0 = None
1 = Pitch Hold (current pitch angle)
2 = Altitude Hold (current altitude)
If no value is set, Pitch Hold will be the default.

default_bank_mode
This determines the default bank mode when the autopilot logic is turned on.
0 = None
1 = Wing Level Hold
2 = Heading Hold (current heading).
If no value is set, Wing Level Hold will be the default.
