What is svchost.exe?

Featured Replies

I see this takes a lot of the memory usage. I also have multiples of this listed in the process window. Would this have a adverse effect of FS performance? Thanks,Scott

Look here for the answer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314056/en-ussvchost.exe is a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated!Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. If you really want to see what your system is doing behind your back try Autorunshttp://www.sysinternals.com(Processes and threads)Where FSAutostart is good for FS. Autoruns is even BETTER for understanding what your system is about. As always, be vary careful before you start messing with anything.Allcott
