Video Card Recommendation
Greetings All, I am not all that computer savy so I have a quick question. What would be the best recommended video card for this computer? -Intel i3 quad core 2.93 -6 gb ram I currently have a Radeon HD 5700 card. It is ok, but wondering if there is something out there that I can get a little more performance from. I think that cpu is most likely the weak link in this case, but just want a video card that will give me the best performance based upon the limitations of the CPU. Thanks Scott

Carenado B200 King Air Released!
Lee, I couldn't wait. The flight one offering had my interest from the start, but it has dwindled with the long wait and the glass cockpit. I have doubts that my system would be able to handle it anyway. Who else has one in the oven? I guess I don't get to spent as much time in here as I used to and lost track of most of the new developments. Scott

Carenado B200 King Air Released!
Lee, Only the 530 is optioned from what I can tell. Integrates fine with the HSI, but flight plan does not show up in the avedyne display or HSI map. Not bad considering the 530 has a large display anyway. I did notice some graphics issues with the VSI when in arc mode. The top half of the vsi disappeared, but corrected itself when toggling back and forth from arc to full. To use the RXP 530, you need to go into the aircraft folder within the FSX folder and run a little program. Funny that there is no documentation on this. At least that I found. Ryan, I didn't have any problems hitting the click spots, but I haven't spent much time with her. I am pleased with it. I have not had time to do a cold and dark start yet, but a quick hop in it at least brought back the wonderful memories of flying the Aeroworx bird. That was my all time favorite FS plane. I actually think the sounds are pretty good. The engine noise is there, but it doesn't drown out the ATC if you are into that. Graphically it looks great. Instruments are smooth even at 15-20 fps. It is a little bit heavier on frames than my other Carenado planes. Scott

VC Panel Mouse control failure
Thank you for replying. I tried what you suggested and it did not solve my issue. It is strange that this just started since I have been flying her for some time. I do use Track IR and so the default seat position is the one I have used. I find it strange that I can tune the brightness of the displays, toggle the displays, work the FMC, but can not manipulate anything on the radio panel, MCP, parking brake, spoiler, throttle etc. I have tried several other aircraft including the J-41, C90, Duke, and have not been able to replicate the problem. Regards, Scott Burke

VC Panel Mouse control failure
Gentlemen, Today I stumbled onto a problem. While in the VC, I am no longer able to use the mouse to turn dials, throw switches etc. The crazy thing is, is that this issue does not impact all click spots. For example, I am able to control the display brightness, use the FMC, and click on objects in the predefined windows such as the overhead panel. This issue came about after installing a few liveries. I have tried running update version C a few times and it did not help. Any ideas? Respectfully, Scott Burke

What plane did you fly today and where did you go?
Short hop in the DODO from KADS (Addison TX) to Possum Kingdom Lake. Took the fire fighters some drinking water and saline. Scott.

Kicking Myself! DoDosim Bird is Outstanding
Purchased the Bell 206 two days ago. and now I am wondering why I waited so long. What a wonderfully challenging little toy. It is extremely frame friendly, not overly difficult to fly, and a real joyful break from the fixed wing aircraft. I can say with without a doubt that their upcoming UH1 will be in my hanger as soon as it is released. If any of you have thought about getting this helo, but just can't get yourself to pull the trigger... stop waiting and go for it. Very enjoyable. And, if you fear it for the difficulty in flying helo's.... NO worries. I'm doing pretty well on the highest difficulty after about 6-7 hours. :( Scott

Active Sky Advanced/Graphics Opinions
Thanks for the input guys. I was forced into a new computer last week when my old one died. The new one handles fsX much better and I am really enjoying ASX/Graphics. Now I just needs to spend some time adjusting and tweaking to get the most out of it. Thanks again,Scott

Active Sky Advanced/Graphics Opinions
Good Afternoon,Could someone share their experiences with any performance issues while using ASA and or the Graphics? Do the programs help, hinder, or provide no change? I know previous versions of AS alllowed the user to select different texture sizes to help with performance, and wonder if this is still an option. Repsectfully,Scott

Beechcraft Kingair Where can I get one
I sugges the Aerowox King as well. It is probably my all time favorite. Besides, if you get it through Flight One and don't like it, you can return it for a full refund. Very consumer friendly folks over there. Also, although Aeroworx has gone away, the support forum is still active. Many helpful folks and ideas there. If you are looking for a great B-200... the asnwer is definitely the Aeroworx plane. Respectfully,Scott

New 3rd party aircraft
I have been out of the loop for a little while. Are there any new 3rd party aircraft on the drawing boards for FS9? Seems like everything has been transfered to FSX. Completely understandable, but sad. Thanks,Scott

Ever hover in a fixed wing aicraft?
Go to KHOU this morning rwy 04. Hop in any light craft such as the Caranado 182, drop to full flaps, add some power and you can hover. Kind of fun. The winds right now with Active Sky are around 65 knots. Perfect hovering speed. :)Scott

"New High Def VC for the Mooney Carenado!"
Ed,Beautiful panel layout! Any chance you could share the config? I have all the parts, just don't have your talent. Also, I have figured out how to resize the images but how do you save them as a 32 bit file? Is there a program you recommend for this? Respectfully,Scott Oops someone just beat me to my second question....

Change of primary video setting in the BIOS
Hello,When I bought a new computer a few months ago I also bought a new vid card and had BestBuy install it while I was there. The card is a PCI-E card and I thought it would run great.. Well it did, but it wasn't as great as I thought. Come to find out that the video setting in the BIOS was still PCI instead of PCI-E. I think I have seen a noticable improvement... Does this actually effect anything or am I merely suffering from wishfull thinking and blurry eyes. I think I have seen a modest improvement in frames as well as the ability to run higher AA settings. Just thought I would trow this out there for any of you computer guru types.Respecfully,Scott

TrackIR4 users ...
Track IR works as advertised in FSX, but FSX is not as friendly when it comes to adjusting eyepoints while using Track IR. Instead of being able to adjust things on the fly you must adjust your eyepoint in notepad for each aircraft. In other words... while Track IR is active you will not be able to move around the aircraft to switch seats etc. If you pause Track IR you can move, but as soon as you un-pause it FSX kicks you back to the original view. For one reason or another it disables the "control+backspace/ shift+backspace" type commands. If there is a cure for this, I have not seen it posted. Respectfully. Scott

TrackIR4 users ...
OK...I often change seats, or views depending on what type of flying I am doing etc. To go into notebook and change something every time I need an adjustment is in my opinion not worth the trouble. It is unfortunate that something that worked so well in FS9 doesn't work in FSX. Oh well, I guess that's life. No one can just leave well enough alone.

TrackIR4 users ...
"Within FSX, you would need to adjust the viewpoint, within each aircraft's cfg file........"This problem with FSX compared to FS9 has been a major factor keeping me flying in FS9. Can't understand why it was changed....If there is a work-around to this please share. Scott

Can't use space bar in airport directory.
Sorry guys, I have been away on business and have not had a chance to try the suggestions. I will post whether or not I find a solution, but it may be a couple more days. I apologize.Respectfully,Scott

Can't use space bar in airport directory.
Yes, it works fine with other software. Scott

I can not use the space bar in the airport directory/search page. Has anyone come across this, or does anyone know what might be the problem? It sure amkes it tough to go to an airport with two names or a city like Los Angeles. for example I am only ablt to type it LosAngeles. :(Scott

AirlinerXP Forum??
This is a shame. It makes me wonder what Feelthere's product could have been if they hadn't rushed it out the door to stay ahead of the competition. Never did like the way the press releases for AirlinerXP suddenly appeared around the time of Feelthere's announcements. Anyway, I never was that interested in it being an airbus, but was certainly curious to see what that team of folks was going to do with that type of aircraft. Pretty talented group. Scott

PSS Press Release - January 16, 2008
MGH made the best point yet. Billions are lost every day to failures, poor investments, heck even natural disasters. What can ya do?Remember.... Laws only keep honest people honest. We live in a world full of dishonest people. Heck, do some looking into how much of your insurance premium goes to paying off insurance fraud in the USA. It might actually make you physically sick. Be Good,Scott
