Kicking Myself! DoDosim Bird is Outstanding

Purchased the Bell 206 two days ago. and now I am wondering why I waited so long. What a wonderfully challenging little toy. It is extremely frame friendly, not overly difficult to fly, and a real joyful break from the fixed wing aircraft. I can say with without a doubt that their upcoming UH1 will be in my hanger as soon as it is released. If any of you have thought about getting this helo, but just can't get yourself to pull the trigger... stop waiting and go for it. Very enjoyable. And, if you fear it for the difficulty in flying helo's.... NO worries. I'm doing pretty well on the highest difficulty after about 6-7 hours. :( Scott

Got to agree, Scott. No-one else has the flight dynamics to match this one. Anyone who has flown r/c choppers will instantly bond. The Nemeth Huey has great exterior graphics, but the experience is pretty so-so.

Dodo 206 is superb. Most fun I've had without wings for a long time.

Agreed. I just got it last weekend after the default FSX helicopter got too easy to handle. I have a full review of my experience on my blog. In short, the Dodo is indeed easy to fly as long as you take the time to understand how helicopters fly and how the Dodo models these behaviors. I think the most common problem with people picking up rotor wing flying is the craft is affected by so many different aerodynamic forces people simply become overwhelmed when the craft starts dipping and spinning for no apparent reason (i.e. you have not modified the controls to create such behavior). So people freak out because they 1) don't know what's really happening and 2) don't know how to counteract it. Once you know these things and can properly anticipate the behavior of the helicopter, a little practice is all you need. Added bonus is the Dodo does a superb job modeling all these effects so the craft always behaves as you would expect. If anyone is thinking of buying it, my one and only advice is read the entire manual. :)

I don't have it yet but if you don't have the cash you can always try the freeware flight dynamics application from the guys at Hovercontrol:Helicopter Total Realismhttp://www.hovercontrol.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?;act=SF;f=53It actually works really well in my opinion and if you think the default Bell and R22 are easy just install this mod muwuauhahah!
