December 6, 200520 yr Does anyone know what CMS stand for? It seems to be part of the Takeoff role at about 1000 feet after T/O. I found it in Mike Ray's 737 check ride book on page 173. Anyone? Thanks.Chris Catalano
December 6, 200520 yr According to the Rockwell/Collins Aviation Technology Glossary, CMS stands for Cabin Management System.Cheers,Paul
December 6, 200520 yr Do you have any ideas as to what this could mean in this case? It says in the book I am reading, "Slightly increase pitch angle and transition to CMS KIAS." Could it be "Clean Maneuvering Speed?"Thanks again.
December 6, 200520 yr I don't think it would mean "Clean Maneuvering Speed" since maneuvering speed (Va) is dependent on aircraft weight and not normally its configuration. For example, most aircraft operating handbooks give the appropriate maneuvering speed for a given aircraft weight, not configuration.I checked in Part 1 of the FAA regulations and there is no definition for CMS. However according to the ASA Dictionary of Aeronautical terms, CMCS is the closest definition which means, "Centeral Maintenance Computer System."I doubt this is the one you are looking for. Not knowing what book you are refering to, you might try searching for the author on the internet and see if he/she has a website. You might be able to get clarification that way.ScottATP/CFII/DA20 Type Rated - Instructor Pilot - USAFA (KAFF), Colorado Springs, CO & at KCOSAOPA #00956593, since 1987Background in Corporate, Airline, and General AviationB.S.
