FS2004 has become unusable -Help!

Featured Replies

I have had a pretty serious problem with FS9 for some time. Initially I thought it was connected to the seasonal CTD problem, but I have installed the patch etc. and it still persists. Basically, the problem is CTD, which tend to happen at or near busy airports, whether on the ground or in the air. The offending module seems to be ntll.dll.I think the problem is actually AI-based. I have Ultimate Traffic installed but have assigned repaints to the flights without assigned models, which means that I now have very few "missing" flights- maqking for very busy airports.Whenever I go near a big airport now, I am prone to an instant CTD. The only other reason I can think of is a hardware-related issue. I am running a PIV3.2G with a Radeon 256K 9800XT card.Has anyone else encountered such issues? Can anyone help? Or am I on for a groun-up re-install?Thanks

Before Reinstalling FS9, why not try disabling AI and see if the problem goes away. Do any of your AI aircraft use DXT3 textures, and if so , do you have render to texture on. If it is definetly an AI issue, , I would just remove all the add-on AI, other than the UT, and then add them back a few at a time until you find the troublemaker. Reinstalling FS9, to me, is the last possible thing that I would try. It is a headache and a half...

i would suggest it could be RAMi have 1 GIG and use PMDG 737 on my system, never ever have i had a CTD,i also defrag once a month, its all about maintenance i suppose.ps i must also add my system is exclusive to FS2004 so that might be helping me...

CTDs can be caused by a module or dll -or- by a bad scenery or texture tile. I usually check the consistency of my scenery with Flight Sim Manager and a CTD was 95% caused by some bad freeware scenery. The fact that it happens to you only at larger airports make me suspect the latter -or- a incomplete AI aircraft.Pat
