Fs9.1 slew mode crazy.

Featured Replies

Morning all;I faced an utterly weird situation when just two weeks ago I tried to reinstall all the fs9 stuff, add-ons an so.Just after installation completed I upgraded to fs9.1 and then configure all the options.Well, just when I select a default situation with the C172 to be able to load further Add-ons with the batt off, I pressed the "Y"key to enter into slew mode, for push and move unrestricted along the apron. Suddenly the plane flies and plunges uncontrolled while on the "slew" mode, and just when i preesed again the "Y" key the plane plunges like a tone of bricks.Pretty much disspointed at this stage, mainly because I cannot enter into slew mode and add-ons such as the pmdg failed to behaviour properly.I don't have any pheripal attached to the pc, nor gamepad either, just the keyboard and mouse, and the AGP drivers are up to date.Could this be related to the fs9.1 patch?Probably this issue has been addressed before, not quite sure, but need urgent help on this issue cause I cannot fly since nearly 17 days..Thanks u very much in advance;-)

It sounds to me like you have 'noise' in your controller(s).I'd suggest re-calibrating them. Did you by change plug the controller(s) into a USB HUB instead of a USB port in the computer itself? Doing that often leads to noise.

Actually I test the thing with nothing plugged in, but the keyboard and mouse.Still lookin' for solution...;-(

Speed in Slew mode is controlled by controller sensitivity - reduce the sensitivity and the movement on slew mode will slow. Also, sounds like you've forgotten something important about slewing in FS2004 as opposed to FS2002 - you need to use F2 to put the aircraft on the ground before exiting slew mode with the `y` key.Allcott

Hi,what I do in such cases is open fs9.cfg and remove almost all entries under the JOYSTICK_SLEW.... heading. First I put LOCKED=1 line after the JOYSTICK_SLEW and delete all other lines except perhaps Slew reset (or something to that effect). I'm at work currently so I can't give you the exact syntax, but you get the idea. :)LOCKED=1 will prevent FS to modify your joystick section(s) so it's a good idea to put it in JOYSTICK_MAIN section(s) as well. I have three controllers and it works great. I got rid of the "slew maddness" this way. Just be careful what you delete - make a backup of fs9.cfg first, of course.Regards,Jure

Try disabling the joystick that should pin it down as joystick or not.Andrew BrownACPChttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/192029.png

I seem to remember him saying the joystick wasn't plugged in? In which while trying to assist you have overlooked a vital piece of info and your suggestions are somewhat mute. Unfortunately I don't have the answer but I would go with putting all your slew movement to the keyboard assigned to keys you can easily remember. I usually use the 4 arrow keys for movement and normally (not at the moment) pg up and pg down for vertical movement. and would suggest kpd1 & 3 for yaw.Try this and see if it cures the issue, as you can slow the plane's movement down straight away.

>>Try this and see if it cures the issue, as you can slow the>plane's movement down straight away. Thanks all for your suggestions. But as Jhon says I don't have any pheripal plugged in, sothe troubleshooting cannot be more bizarre on this stage..Btw I'll try the fs9 config modification and unselect the Joystickon the config panel. After work Jure, if this doesn't bother you much, 'd you copy & paste your fs9.cfg joystick section file on this thread? Only with one pheripal.Would you think guys that the fs9.1 patch has something to do with this issue? Is worth to alter the instalation order, firstly the fs9 stand alone, then all the add-ons plus the scenerys and mesh and finally the patch?Regards

And you said well Andrew.... VERY well..Before commnecin' to blame to myself and to thing abouthow to remove the "before posting and asking for help try tountick the box labeled no joystick" kinda face I must say..Thank u all for your feedbacks..If you fly online on vatsim on Egkk one day u should know that you got one slot free and one landing fare voucher to spend only on gatty...

Uh oh, I indeed failed to see that you have no joystick plugged in your computer. Weird...Anyway, here's the section for my CH USB Yoke. The ( parenthesis should be square.(JOYSTICK_MAIN {794AB320-3F16-11DA-8001-444553540000})LOCKED=1AXIS_EVENT_00=AXIS_AILERONS_SETAXIS_SCALE_00=127AXIS_NULL_00=1AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_ELEVATOR_SETAXIS_SCALE_01=127AXIS_NULL_01=1AXIS_EVENT_03=AXIS_MIXTURE_SETAXIS_SCALE_03=127AXIS_NULL_03=1AXIS_EVENT_04=AXIS_PROPELLER_SETAXIS_SCALE_04=127AXIS_NULL_04=1BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_00=BRAKESBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_00=2BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_01=GEAR_TOGGLEBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_02=RUDDER_TRIM_LEFTBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_02=2BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_03=RUDDER_TRIM_RIGHTBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_03=2BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_04=FLAPS_DECRBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_05=FLAPS_INCRBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_06=SPOILERS_TOGGLEBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_07=SPOILERS_ARM_TOGGLEBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_08=VIEW_MODEBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_09=READOUTS_FLIGHTBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_10=ELEV_TRIM_DNBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_10=2BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_11=ELEV_TRIM_UPBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_11=2POV_MOVE_EVENT_00=PAN_VIEWPOV_MOVE_REPEAT_00=1(JOYSTICK_SLEW {794AB320-3F16-11DA-8001-444553540000})LOCKED=1POV_MOVE_EVENT_00=PAN_VIEWPOV_MOVE_REPEAT_00=2If you plug in a joystick or yoke, your numbers after JOYSTICK_MAIN will be of course different. If you will experiment with different controllers, remove the LOCKED=1 statement, or change it to LOCKED=0 so that you can make axis and buttons assignments within FS9. Only after you're happy with the assignments go and put LOCKED=1 back into fs9.cfg. And, of course, delete the unwanted lines under JOYSTICK_SLEW if they give you trouble.Jure
