Help? AI parking at wrong spots

Featured Replies

I don't know how to fix this. My cargo a/c are parking at terminals in many airports...mainly simflyer's kord.-I made sure the cargo a/c have "atc_parking_types=CARGO" in their aircraft.cfg-I've Checked the AFCAD file to make sure that parking is correctly assigned-I've made sure there are no duplicate AFCAD filesCan anyone help me out?

Are you using a commercial package or writing your own flightplans?Paul

I'm using freeware flightplans from avsim

Are the cargo spots empty or full?"to make sure that parking is correctly assigned"Do the aircraft which are parking in the wrong spots have a parking code equal to one of the first four codes in the cargo spot where they should be parking? Most of the time the reason aircraft park in the wrong spot is that there are not enough spots for some aircraft on the airport - and that aircraft is starting a cascade of wrong parking.

No, the aircraft that are parking in the wrong spot do not have a parking code equal to one of the first 4 codes. The parking code for the aircraft is actually the last on that list.

After more than four parking codes - the impact of parking codes on the parking spot assignment process is very small.Look at the parking codes used for the cargo spots.I recently saw a very good AFCAD for KORD which had about 12 codes in a cargo parking spot. The same 12 codes in the same order in every cargo parking spot on the airport. This concept is useless in separating parking. That AFCAD / airport works much better when there are NO parking codes in the cargo parking spots.Parking codes should only be used to separate aircraft from other identical aircraft. You do not need to use a parking code to separate a Northwest Airlines B747 cargo bird from a NWA B747 pax aircraft - the parking types entry will separate them.Always make sure there are some parking spots with no parking code of each type on an airport. Otherwise the aircraft with a parking code which does not match, or is way down the list - will be assigned to park based on it's radius value and the first empty spot on the list of parking spots.

Thanks for the help!but I tried removing the parking codes for some of the cargo ramps, although the problem still persists.

Are there any aircraft parked in those spots?Where does traffic file with the problem aircraft come in the load order - i.e. what is the file's name compared to your other traffic file names?Or if you have one large traffice file, where in the file are the flight plans for the problem aircraft located.AI aircraft are loaded from the start to the end of each traffic file, and traffic files are loaded in what appears to be ascii text order.Another question is what is the aircraft model radius and what is the desired parking spot radius?
