New Build For P3D

Recommended Posts

I am happy to announce that I have just purchased a few new components for a new system. I am transferring a few of my older components from the older build that I bought not too long ago.

1TB HD

SSD 500GB

GTX 970 4GB

500W Power Supply

And these new components.

What do you guys think? Will it be a good build?

The kaby lake 7700K is already avalable. Check Amazon. The same for the Z270 Chipset.

Yeah already placed the order. Perhaps I'll do a swap.

No need to swap really - I've read several reviews of both Skylake and Kaby Lake Intel CPUs, and although Kaby Lake starts at a higher clock for the 7700K version, the number of Instructions Per Second (IPS) isn't any higher than Skylake and the overall difference in gaming isn't likely to be felt.

Unfortunately, unlike GPU technology, Intel CPU technology hasn't advanced much in the last 3 years.  As someone who will be building, from scratch, a new rig using this spring's tax refund, I'm a little disappointed Intel hasn't been trying harder.  Just the same, I'm going for the Kaby Lake 7700K because with a good cooler some folks are hitting 5.0 GHZ with it (turbo mode).
