AI Aircraft Speed

Featured Replies

Is there a way in FS9 of speeding up the AI aircraft. I am getting a bit annoyed when coming in on finals, having been given clearance by ATC, behind an AI jet to be told at 300ft to go around. I am down to 140 kts and the AI seems to be at about 90kts. There is a similar problem when taxiing even when down to a crawl I still catch up quickly.Peter

Download this in the File download under FS2004 Utilities.. fsaisv1.1.zip. It is called AI separation. You start it up and select your arrival runway , in the dropdown menu. It will space the AI aircraft, so you won't have anymore more problems on arrival. Works great!!!!

In addition, to the above, download Ken Salter's FS9 Configurator. Allows you to adjust the AI taxi speed.

FS Configurator works well on the ground for speeding up aircraft exiting the runway and taxiing about.I use AISmooth 1.12 freeware for AI seperation in approach and final. You can set it to respond to your aircraft position as well. It has settings for time and distance AI separation from each other and you which gives me a better sequencing to line up for the string-of-pearls merge to final. It is available here:http://www.sg-flightware.de/but was not up this a.m. This utility is included with one of the AI Traffic payware packages I believe Traffic 2005. It was still defined then as a freeware inclusion. If you fly with payware Radar Contact V4 ATC it provides some control of AI in front and in back on final to avoid closing you in. It also can halt ground AI from entering the active when you are on final. It also provides separation methods enroute by issuing advisories to you and controlling enroute AI.You can look at their support forum here on AVSIM and existing but long threads here on the FS Forum. On the support forum here you will find links to their FAQs.

The best way that I like to handle this, is also one which gives me a much more functional ATC, that is the add-on Radar Control V4... If you search for it in the forums, you should find the current discussion of V4 release this month... It will sort out and control all AI aircraft. Have them hold if you are landing so they dont taxi out onto the runway, causing you to have to go around. It will also slow them down on approach, so they dont over run you, or even land and make you go around.

Thanks. Couldn't get fsaisv.zip just a load of German but have tried AIsmooth and FS9Configurator but am getting Traffic 2005 which I hope will kill two birds with one stone.Peter
