January 15, 20179 yr I have an elderly PC,about 10 years old. Various upgrades have kept it going. Now the graphics card has failed and I am looking for a replacement. Hoping to get a modern card I found that it may not be compatible with my old PCI-E socket, which is version 1.0. Any thoughts on this will be gratefully received. Flyer32

January 15, 20179 yr Author vortex681. Thank you, my friend. That is exactly the info I was looking for. It appears that the three versions of PSI-E are backwards compatible with regards to fit and usage, and each version gives increased performance, although the increase is barely noticeable, unless your whole rig is version 3.0 compatible. So I can go ahead and buy whatever card I want, and it will work. Now for the cost!!!!! Best wishes to all, flyer32a
