Any compatibility issues with PCI-E versions 1.0. 2.0. and 3.0 ?

I have an elderly PC,about 10 years old. Various upgrades have kept it going. Now the graphics card has failed and I am looking for a replacement. Hoping to get a modern card I found that it may not be compatible with my old PCI-E socket, which is version 1.0.

Any thoughts on this will be gratefully received. Flyer32

Thank you, my friend. That is exactly the info I was looking for. It appears that the three versions of PSI-E

are backwards compatible with regards to fit and usage, and each version gives increased performance,

although the increase is barely noticeable, unless your whole rig is version 3.0 compatible. So I can go

ahead and buy whatever card I want, and it will work. Now for the cost!!!!!

Glad to be of help. I was successfully using a GTX 970 in my old PCI-E 2.0 system before I upgraded.
