Interesting things ive seen, possible issue?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I did my first full flight with the bird yesterday, short hop from SFO to ORD. I noticed some interesting things happen during the flight. 1. There was a warning on almost the whole flight saying "<fuel tank/eng" or something like that. Not sure what that means or how to turn it off, messed with the fuel system a little and didnt turn off. 2. I was getting the fuel imbalance warning the whole flight. Brought up the fuel display that showed all the tanks, and nothing was imbalanced. Again I tried messing with the pumps and cross feeds, but the warning never went away. 3. No stars or runways showed up for me in the FMC for ORD. I havent had time to confirm if that's isolated to the 747 or my personal sim.

You have to turn off Main Overide Pumps (2&3) and 1&4 Crossfeed Pumps to put in Tank to Engine configuration.

The 747 fuel management requires some attention from the pilot, as it's more complex than the other PMDG Boeing airplanes (777 is fully automatic, not requiring any input form the pilot, aside from turn center tanks off when low).

  1. Make sure to fly the tutorial. It addresses this. Basically: you need to set the tanks to fuel each engine directly. Turn the OVRD tanks to OFF, and then close the outer XFEED valves (the unguarded ones).
  2. This develops if the point above is not observed.
