December 24, 200520 yr Both of these sims have the piper pa 28 180 listed in their aircraft directories but dont show up in the selection list in the program. The bmp file for the textrure also show no picts as the other aircraft files do. Does any one know why they are there if they are put there by the install procedure why dont they work? Thanks Easy Xjer Wannabee pilot.
December 24, 200520 yr The piper pa28, along with the MD83 are in your aircraft folder because they are AI aircraft. They were not designed to be flown, however if you do a search in the library, people have made them flyable...
December 24, 200520 yr The Piper is one of MSFS's AI aircraft--they normally aren't useable aircraft unless one makes an edit to the .air file. They don't contain virtual panels, etc as the selectable default aircraft do.The reason why the bitmaps show nothing is they're "extended" bitmaps--bitmaps that are in a special format, usually with an alpha channel which contains the aircraft's reflective properties. You need a special editor/viewer (DXTBMP by Martin Wright or Imagetool) to see them.Hope this helps!-John
December 24, 200520 yr make that 'marginally flyable', their flight characteristics are terrible (they were made to take off, fly straight and level to their destination, then land again, all under autopilot control).
January 5, 200620 yr Dont get on the net often worl 14 hr days thanks for the input on the aircraft. I asked because I flew one with a pilot friend and was hoping to fly this.
January 5, 200620 yr I just purchased the Carenado 180 as part of a 2 aircraft package they were promoting last week. I have two recent threads in the screenshots forum showing it off--just search for "Author" "Johnci". I'll try to take a minute and grab the links and edit this post with them. The Carenado aircraft is well worth it--it's become my favorite GA aircraft for FS2004.-JohnHere's the links:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=222094http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=221773
January 8, 200620 yr Am seriously considering the 182 rg I miss it from fs 2002. I have downloaded some freeware aircraft why dont the landing lights work while sitting in the cockpit? Can see them in virtual mode or spot but not in the cockpit mode. Thanks again Dan
