Would you like a Saab for Christmas?

Featured Replies

Kind of disappointed in this Saab. Panel is somewhat weak and no various viewpoints to it. No wing views. Plane sounds a bit buzzy and it idles too fast. Sorry about the negativity....but I've been waiting for a great Saab model (either 2000 or 340)for a long time. I've never seen one that has it all.

What happened to the landing HUD they demo'ed on their forums?

Read BSMP's news forum.

For a freeware developer to "give it all" in one package is a pretty tall order given the months of development time it takes to do the total package. For what it's worth, the FFG 340 I helped out with has wing views, but third party repaint support (or the lack of it) really kept if from getting the attention I felt the original author deserved.-John

John,Hope you didn't think I was being overly negative. If you see any of my threads on this forum, you'd know I'm usually quite positive and I appreciate both freeware and payware very much. Perhaps I just haven't found the Saab I enjoy yet. I don't know if I tried your 340 but I'll look for it....and give it a try."Build one myself"? Well, I'm not familiar with how to do that, and perhaps someday I'll try that aspect of this wonderful simulation program....I just don't have all the time I'd like to have right now. It's not necessary to go into what kind of job I have or what I do .....let's just say that I love our hobby and I fly just about every day for a while (in FS..that is). I just find myself occupied with many other things at this stage in my life.I have a real love for Saabs and I can't remember a good one since FS 2002. I believe there was a good 340 for that simulator.Hope to hear from others on this particular topic.

Hope you didn't think I was being overly negative>>>>>>>>If I had just spent months developing that Saab 2000 as a gift to the community, I would think so, yes. When someone gives you a Christmas present, do you say "Kind of disappointed with these socks. Had hoped for grey". Or, "Kind of disappointed with this morphing robot. I actually wanted a Darth Vader mask."I don't think so ;-)Merry Christmas, all!MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

Dark Moment,Well, as far as Christmas presents go....if they don't fit, I take them back and exchange them for something I like. I appreciate the thought.....as I said. I just didn't particularly like the present.Cheer up...."Dark Moment"

In any event, BSMP posted on their forums that an expansion pack of sorts would be released shortly after the main release. I can tell you right now a wingview model will be out within a week, and a VC is about 90% complete. The great thing about freeware is, if you dont like it, you can delete it, and all you lose are a few precious moments.

Stan, you were not being too negative. You gave us your opinion on itand you were not being rude or obnoxious about it. You didn't come inhere yelling, Oh this is utter crap, worst thing ever, geez my gerbil could do better... no you did not. It would be nice if people would just leave their opinion of other peoples opinion at home.I too feel it was somewhat lackluster in areas. I like the outside visuals they look good. The sound sounds good to me maybe needs a little tweaking but still good. Thing I was disappointed about was no VC and/or wing views and the the panel could use a little more work. Also noticed a little high on the idle too, just a tap on the throttle and was close to 40 knots during a taxi. Now at the time of the test drive I did not know about the VC and the wingviews coming out later. So thanks Dave for the info will be looking foward for the extras. Could do without the last sentence though.

Yes....I, too, will be giving it another chance when it is modified. Thanks for the support. Opinions are important, because if they're never given, progress cannot happen. In the words of Bill Gates...."If it ain't broke...break it!" Only then can we evolve as a society and evolve in technology.
